Story:
“Heads, I win,” the Slime Queen said to the latest acquisition.  Iceman did not respond to the declaration.  Without lungs or a larynx to generate sound, all he could do was mutely stare ahead as she placed his head inside the containment unit.  He was one of the last lines of defense the X-Men could rely on as the Slime Queen dismantled or disabled anyone else in her path.  Now, he was the latest trophy added to her collection.

Any fight against the Slime Queen allegedly favored Iceman.  His thermokinesis and cryokinesis powers meant he could freeze the Slime Queen into a solid, immobile state.  To everyone’s surprise, she engaged him in a frontal assault at an X-Men stronghold.  While mutant refugees escaped, Iceman engaged in stalemate tactics to inhibit and prevent the Slime Queen from abducting any more mutants.  In a bold move of his own, Iceman ingested mutant growth hormone to amplify his freezing powers.  When the Slime Queen froze solid into place, he exhaled a sigh of relief.  The moment of relief ended when he saw the Slime Queen reanimate herself.

The Slime Queen’s seemingly solid form shifted into a mobile, amorphous mass and an outstretched arm turned into an ice pick.  The first blow was jarring enough to break chunks of ice off his left arm.  The following hit shattered the remains of the left arm into fragments.  Using his right hand to create a warding shield, Iceman concentrated for a few seconds as he regenerated his lost limb.  This moment of sheltering was enough time for the Slime Queen to leap to a higher position and rain a series of hardened spikes down upon Iceman.  Reinforced by the cold temperature and telekinetic shielding, the slime spikes shattered the barrier shielding Iceman and pinned him to the ground.  Another blast of freezing air pushed the Slime Queen away from Iceman.  He summoned everything he had to push her away and freeze her in place.  It was not enough.

Reverting back to her svelte form, the Slime Queen lifted Iceman off the ground and engulfed him inside her body.  Her slime filled all of the broken crevices and holes riddling Iceman’s body.  Her natural power and unnatural powers consumed him from within and without.  Iceman refused to surrender and let his temperature drop as much as possible before he lost control of his own body.  Only after the Slime Queen fully assimilated Iceman did he discover the terrible truth.  He never stood a chance against her because the anti-freeze flowing throughout her body prevented her from freezing solid.  She feigned weakness to draw him out, let him drop his guard, so she could strike a knockout blow.

Suffering from icy heartburn, the Slime Queen digested Iceman’s body, but preserved his head.  He would join the many other captives as part of her gruesome collection.  A golden collar locked into place at the stump of Iceman’s neck.  The life preserving technology was fashioned from Forge’s design and engineering skill.  He did not voluntarily provide it, but after his absorption by the Slime Queen, he was given a Faustian choice.  He would develop and maintain the equipment that kept the captured prisoner alive or the Slime Queen would absorb Ororo and let her linger forever as a mindless slime minion.  Forge selected the path damnation and served as the warden for the Slime Queen’s prisoners, while a prisoner himself.  Another machine of his creation processed and stored the Slime Queen’s collection of heads.

The Slime Queen jettisoned the absorbed remains of Iceman’s body into the Miasma.  The Miasma was a volatile mix of discarded mutant remains, random powers, and excess slime.  Absent the Slime Queen’s governance, the Miasma had become semi-intelligent creature in its own right.  Auto adaptive shields and a constant vigil from kept the Miasma from escaping.  The investment of resources was worth it to Mr. Sinister.  He promised not to use the Miasma as a weapon of terror against the government as long as they did not unleash the Avengers upon him.  The Miasma had all the assimilative powers of the Slime Queen mixed with a random mix of other powers, but none of her intelligence or discipline.  If unleashed on an unsuspecting populace, computer models predicted massive casualties as the Miasma would gorge and envelop everything organic in its path.  It would add to its own mass and size until there was nothing left alive.

Stepping away from the containment unit, the Slime Queen mulled over the letter sent by Jamanen.  Her victory was only assured after their wise counsel.  The fates had been generous to both of them and sought to align them together again.  Jamanen offered to meet her again at the Quiet Room.  It would cost her a favor from Mr. Sinister, but the Slime Queen decided the price was worth paying.  She wanted to thank Jamanen in person and in a very personable way.
