I’ve commissioned suppa-rider before and they’ve done fantastic work for me.  I developed and created a new OC and I felt he was the best candidate to give her life.  It’s always important to select an artist you trust to create the first design, first sample work of a new character.  I’ve learned that future artists are going to rely on this image so getting the details right with the appropriate artist is a must.  Suppa-rider is an excellent artist and I’m glad they accepted this commission series.  Please drop by his gallery and see his other fine works.

Title: The Ava Incident Part II

Background:
I have a picture favorite in my gallery Title: Rogue Pollination, www.deviantart.com/art/Rogue-P….  It inspired the idea that follows.  Generic Female Secret Agent investigates a location to determine if there is extraterrestrial contamination.  She finds out quite quickly (or squickly if you’d prefer).  Also, additional visual inspirations draw from the writer Tabico.  This is a sequel to Title: The Ava Incident Part I,  dwwrider.deviantart.com/art/Th….

Story:
Generic Female Secret Agent’s mission to destroy a hot zone possibly full of alien DNA hit a snag.  The extraterrestrial DNA that survived entry from a falling meteoroid was full of plant life that had no plans to be cleansed by fire.  Their goal was propagation.  Her goal was destruction.  At this point, the alien plant life was winning.

After being dusted with pollen from the extraterrestrial plant, Generic Female Secret Agent did not resist as tendrils wrapped around her body.  To its credit, the alien plant had no hostile intentions for her.  It required host DNA and live DNA was more valuable than expiring, decaying DNA.  The outer flaps of the bulbous plant parted, exposing an empty cavity big enough to fit a crouching human.  The plant’s roots dug deeper into the ground to draw in more nutrients from the ground.  It would need additional resources to support its new guest.  The plant’s tendrils gently lifted its guest into the air before gently lowering her into its center.  For a moment, Generic Female Secret Agent stood in the center of the bulbous plant.  She swayed in a controlled motion, dazed from the pollen, uncomprehending what was happening to her.  The tendrils lowered her gently into the empty cavity.  She felt her legs tuck into her chest.  Her vision dimmed and darkened as the parted opening of the plant’s top petals moved in reverse.  The flat petals returned to a closed position, sealing the captured agent inside.  The bulbous plant shifted and shimmied in place.  As it prepared its guest for processing, it required privacy from any possible intrusion.  The bulbous plant’s roots branched deeper into the ground digging a hole into the soil.  They went deeper into the ground, far from sight, but not far from Generic Female Secret’s mind.  She had so much more than her DNA to share.  She had secrets the plants wanted to know.

Probes entered Generic Female Secret Agent’s body from multiple locations.  A root was stationed in her mouth and it fed her nutrients and oxygen.  The root burrowing into her brain delved into the innermost secrets of her mind.  Another root extracted her DNA for analysis and processing.  The most intimate root of all analyzed the genetic stock in her ovaries.  Once a proper candidate was located, the plant would extract an egg to utilize in conjunction with its own genetic stock.  The bulbous plant would fulfill its destiny of creating an Avatar, a spokesperson for the plant.

While this process occurred, it sensed disturbances from above its position.  There was activity occurring on the surface and it sensed the distress of its fellow plants.  They sent vibrations into the ground that only the alien plant could translate into meaning: they were under attack.  Shielded in biohazard suits with separate breathing mechanisms, the invaders did not succumb to the submission pheromone emitted by the other bulbous plants or to the alien pollen ejected onto them.  If anything, the invaders received more alien material to study.  The uprooted plants did not struggle as their roots were severed and their connection to the ground disrupted.  Once separated from the ground, they emitted a sub-sonic pitch, unheard by the human ear, but audible to the other alien seedlings in the area.

The alien plant that remained underground shuddered and wept.  Its brethren were being taken and their mission was at risk of failure.  It carried on its task to create the Avatar by itself.  It was the only task it could do now to preserve its mission.
